Peninsula gateway — new builds, beaches, space to grow
Goderich is the fast-growing gateway to the Freetown peninsula. Newer developments, large titled plots, fishing beaches and an easy drive to Number 2 River have made it the most active buy-and-build area for returning diaspora. Covers everything from the Goderich junction out along the peninsula coast.

The drive out to Goderich from the CBD takes 35-45 minutes depending on traffic, and the area keeps opening up as new roads are paved deeper into the peninsula. Most buyers here are building rather than renting: titled plots of 800-3000m² are common, and a growing number of Sierra Leonean diaspora are putting up holiday homes with year-round staff.
Rentals are rarer but exist - mostly beach villas for short-stay and a handful of 2-3 bed houses aimed at long-term residents who don’t mind the commute. Expect prices per m² that are 30-50% lower than Aberdeen for buy, but rents that are comparable because supply is still limited.
Goderich’s catchment is part of the draw — from the Goderich junction you are within easy reach of Lakka, Tokeh, Sussex, and the peninsula beaches including Number 2 River. Utilities still need planning: EDSA is less reliable this far out, so a solar + generator hybrid is standard. Water is typically borehole rather than municipal. The upside: stars are properly visible at night, which isn’t true for much of central Freetown.
